She has given brilliant performances as a starry Queen of the Night and enjoys huge worldwide success as Lucia di Lammermoor; she sings Verdi and Puccini with the same emphasis as her beloved Russian operas. It therefore comes as no surprise that Olga Peretyatko is one of today’s most sought-after sopranos, and ever since making her international breakthrough as winner of Plácido Domingo’s renowned Operalia competition, the St. Petersburg native has been in demand on the world’s leading operatic stages and concert podiums. She has collaborated with pianist Semjon Skigin to devise a new recital programme especially for the Zaubersee Festival, in which several of the most beautiful lullabies have pride of place. These range from Mozart’s Schlafe, mein Prinzchen to Tosti’s Ninna nanna, from Schumann’s Sandmann to Tchaikovsky’s poignant Schlaf, mein Kindelein. And of course the programme would not be complete without the perhaps most popular lullaby of all – Summertime from Gershwin’s opera Porgy and Bess.
