25-year-old pianist Danae Dörken has played at the Cologne Philharmonie, Essen Philharmonie, Gasteig Munich, Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, and Beethoven-Haus Bonn. She is a regular guest at festivals such as Kissinger Sommer, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Schwetzingen Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Recent orchestra engagements included debuts with the Munich Symphony, Dortmund Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Bielefeld Philharmonic, Toledo Symphony, and the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie.
Her recording of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 and Mendelssohn’s Second Piano Concerto with the Royal Northern Sinfonia was released in May 2016. Two years earlier she produced her second CD with fantasies by Schumann, Schubert and C.P.E. Bach (ARS Produktion).
Born in Wuppertal in August 1991, Danae Dörken grew up in a German-Greek family. She has received numerous awards in national and international competitions. Due to her outstanding performance as the youngest participant in the International Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede (NL) the “Prix Unique” prize was specifically created for her and is now being awarded annually.
