Bass Tadas Girininkas was born in Lithuania and received his Master’s Degree at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2009.
His 2015–16 season is marked by the role of Colline in a new production of La Bohème at the Lithuanian National Opera where he will also sing Alexander’s Feast (Händel), De Silva (Ernani), Rocco (Fidelio), Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro). At the Vilnius City Opera he recently debuted in the role of Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande by Debussy). He also performed Ferrando (Il Trovatore) and sang the bass solo in César Franck’s Les Béatitudes.
His future plans include Angelotti (Tosca) and Mustafa (L’italiana in Algeri). His recent debuts include Rocco (Fidelio), De Silva (Ernani) and Heinrich (Lohengrin) at the Lithuanian National Opera, Colline at Vilnius City Opera, Maliuta Skuratov (The Tsar’s Bride) at Kaunas State Musical Theatre. His past work in Lithuanian musical theatres comprises leading bass roles such as Zuniga, Sparafucile, Zweiter Geharnischter (Die Zauberflöte), Johann (Werther), Commander, Zarecky (Eugene Onegin), Geronte di Ravoir (Manon Lescaut), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Escamillo (Carmen), Tristan (Martha, by Friedrich von Flotow), Capuletti (Roméo et Juliette), Wagner (Faust), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Attila (Attila), Caronte (Orfeo), Seneca (L’Incoronazione di Poppea), Simone (Gianni Schicchi).
As an oratorio performer he has performed Missa Brevis and Requiems by Mozart and Verdi, Messa di Gloria by Puccini and Britten’s War Requiem. Mr. Girininkas was Opera Soloist of the Year 2013 in Lithuania and was recently awarded with the Gold Stage Cross.
